 - Mastercraft Collection Ford Trimotor Pan Am The Tin Goose Civil Aviation Transport Aircraft Airplane Plane World War II Model Scale:1/48
Mastercraft Collection Ford Trimotor Pan Am The Tin Goose Civil Aviation Transport Aircraft Airplane Plane World War II Model Scale:1/48

The Ford Trimotor (also called the "Tri-Motor", and nicknamed "The Tin Goose") was an American three-engine transport aircraft that was first produced in 1925 and continued to be produced until June 1933. The aircraft resembled the Fokker F.VII Trimotor, but unlike the Fokker, the Ford was all-metal, allowing Ford to claim it was "the safest airliner around." Throughout its time in production, a total of 199 Ford Trimotors were produced. Although it was designed for the civil aviation market, this aircraft was also used by military units and was sold all over the world. This specific model is painted in the Pan Am paint scheme. Pan American World Airways was founded in 1927 as a scheduled air mail and passenger service operating between Key West FL and Havana, Cuba. The airline has become a major company credited with many innovations that shaped the international airline industry, including the widespread use of jet aircraft, jumbo jets, and computerized reservation systems. This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff! .

The S-42 was a commercial flying boat designed and built by Sikorsky Aircraft. The S-42 was designed during the 1930s for Pan Am Airlines; they were looking for a long-range transatlantic flying boat. The S-42 design was based on the earlier Sikorsky S-40; the new design provided for an increased lifting capacity to carry enough fuel for a 2,500 mi nonstop flight against a 30 mph wind. A total of 10 S-42s were built, and they only flew with Pan Am. This specific model is painted in the Pan Am paint scheme. - Roden 1/144 American Douglas DC-7C four engines airliner Pan American Airlines 1950 (japan import)
Roden 1/144 American Douglas DC-7C four engines airliner Pan American Airlines 1950 (japan import)

In 1945 Pan American World Airways requested a DC-7, a civilian version of the Douglas C-74 Globemaster military transport. Pan Am canceled their order shortly afterward; that DC-7 is unrelated to the later airliner.American Airlines revived the designation when they requested an aircraft that could fly the USA coast to coast non-stop in about eight hours. Robert Rummel (at the time head of engineering at TWA) stated that pilot union rules limiting flying time to eight hours per day influenced American's request to Douglas. Douglas was reluctant to build the aircraft until American Airlines president C. R. Smith placed a firm order for 25 at a price of $40 million, thus covering Douglas' development costs. The DC-7 used the DC-4's wing with a fuselage 3 feet longer than the DC-6. The engine was the eighteen-cylinder Wright R-3350 Turbo-Compound. The prototype flew in May 1953 and American received their first DC-7 in November, inaugurating the first non-stop east-coast-to-west-coast service in the country (optimistically scheduled just under the eight-hour limit for one crew) and forcing rival TWA to offer a similar service with its Super Constellations. Both aircraft frequently experienced in-flight engine failures, causing many flights to be diverted. The DC-7 was followed by th...

Mastercraft Collection B-377 Stratocruiser PAA Scale: 1/100

The Boeing 377, or Stratocruiser, was a large long-range airliner built after World War II. It was developed from the C-97 Stratofreighter, which a military derivative of the B-29 Superfortress and used for troop transport. The B377 was released in the late 1940s; it was powered by four piston engines, had a pressurized cabin, which was a relatively new feature to transport aircraft at the time, and two decks. Using the B377, airlines were able to make transoceanic flights easier and faster, which enabled easier international travel to places such as Hawaii. Despite this, the Stratocruiser was considerably more expensive to buy and operate than the competing Douglas DC-6 and Lockheed Constellation. As a result, only 55 Stratocruisers were built for airlines. This specific model is painted in the Pan Am paint scheme. Pan American World Airways was founded in 1927 as a scheduled air mail and passenger service operating between Key West FL and Havana, Cuba. TWA Trans World Airlines 80s Bold Titles Boeing 747-100 Airplane Miniature Model Diecast 1:200 Part# A012-IF741008

Trans World Airlines (TWA) was an American airline from 1925 until it was bought out by and merged with American Airlines in 2001. It was a major airline in the United States and the main U.S.-based competitor of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) on intercontinental routes from 1946 until deregulation in 1978. TWA had hubs at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport and focus cities in Kansas City, Los Angeles, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the 1980s it built a hub in Atlanta, reduced in the 1990s. TWA had pilot bases in Frankfurt and Berlin during the 1980s and it operated Boeing 727-100 type aircraft within Europe. The company flew intra-European routes between Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Zurich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Vienna, Amsterdam and Istanbul. Flying to most major U.S. cities, TWA was one of the largest domestic airlines; before deregulation TWA, American Airlines, United Airlines, and Eastern Air Lines were known as the "Big Four". It also had a feeder operation from smaller cities in the Midwestern United States. Beyond the U.S., TWA had a large European and Middle Eastern network, served from its hub, the iconic TWA Flight Center, at John F. Kennedy International Airport. For a few years its routes circumnavigated the globe. It w...
