Cabomba Aquarium Plant

 - Cabomba Caroliniana - 4+ Stems | Freshwater Aquatic Plant
Cabomba Caroliniana - 4+ Stems | Freshwater Aquatic Plant

The Cabomba, also known as the Carolina Fanwort, has feathery green leaves, which are divided into narrow segments. It is a densely growing plant that makes for a wonderful, natural looking background in a planted aquarium. Cabomba does best when grown in neutral water under moderate lighting. Provide at least 2 watts per gallon of full spectrum (5000-7000K) lighting. Water temperature between 72°-82°F, an alkalinity of 3-8 dKH and a pH of 6.5-7.5 is ideal for proper growth. These plants do not tolerate frequent trimming and transplanting. Leaves dropping from the plant are usually a sign of poor water conditions or CO2 deficiency. Propagate the Cabomba by trimming branches from the main plant, and relocating them in another part of the aquarium. It should be placed in the back or sides of your aquarium in groups for the best appearance. You can expect to receive 5 to 7 per Cabomba per bunch.

 - Aquatic Arts Green Cabomba - 2 Bunches - Live Aquarium Plant
Aquatic Arts Green Cabomba - 2 Bunches - Live Aquarium Plant

Green Cabomba, also known as Red Cabomba or Carolina Fanwort, is a large aquatic plant with tall branches. It has tiny, needle-like leaves that fan out from its branches. It is a wonderful plant for providing cover for fish, shrimp, and other aquatic inhabitants, plus it makes any aquarium more aesthetically pleasing. This plant is low-maintenance and can tolerate a wide range of water parameters. However, we recommend a temperature range of 72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, a pH of 6.5 to 7.5, and soft water. If you find leaves dropping from your Green Cabomba, this is likely a sign of poor water quality or a carbon dioxide deficiency. We ship this plant LARGE - most bunches will have 6 or more branches and will be 6 to 8 inches tall (and you will receive 2 of these bunches). With proper care and high-intensity lighting, Green Cabomba can grow to almost 2 feet tall!

 - Aquatic Arts Live Hornwort Plant - 2 Extra Large Bunches of Pond Plants Over 10 Stems
Aquatic Arts Live Hornwort Plant - 2 Extra Large Bunches of Pond Plants Over 10 Stems

Hornwort, also known as Ceratophyllum demersum, is a floating plant with no roots (though it can easily be anchored in substrate). It is easy to grow and is fine with low-light setups, although more light means faster and denser growth. It grows by absorbing waste including ammonia and nitrates from the water, which means less pollutants causing smelly or cloudy water and happier fish/invertebrates! All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee. Due to variations of each plant, your item may not look identical to the image provided.

 - Pond Oxygenating Hornwort Bunch Plants
Pond Oxygenating Hornwort Bunch Plants

Hornwort, also known as Coontail, has sturdy, layered hair-like foliage that helps oxygenate and clarify the water as well as keep algae growth to a minimum. It is found free-floating worldwide, in moving and still waters, or loosely anchored in muddy bottoms. The tips will shorten and thicken in fall, before falling off and settling on the pond floor to spend the winter as buds. In spring, these buds grow to repopulate the pond. Hornwort leaves are dark green and grow from a 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches long on stems that can reach 24 inches in length. They may be potted or just left to float in the pond. You will receive several stems in one bunch tied with at the bottom. You can plant as is or you can release them and allow them to float. These plants need at least 8 hours of light per day and they absorb nutrients through its stems so they do not root. Approximate Purchase Size: 6" to 8"

 - Red Cabomba - Cabomba furcata, Cabomba piauhyensis - 1 Bunch - Live Aquarium Plant
Red Cabomba - Cabomba furcata, Cabomba piauhyensis - 1 Bunch - Live Aquarium Plant

As for most Cabomba species, light is also the primary factor for this fine-leaved reddish stem plant. In many cases C. furcata requires 0.8 watts per litre or more for stable growth. If the light is insufficient, the shoots grow weak and tend to decompose. A substrate enriched in nutrients, like e.g. ADA Aquasoil, can significantly enhance growth. C. furcata requires micronutrients and nitrate as well as phosphate, best added as liquid fertiliser, as it is highly susceptible to a lack of nutrients. Symptoms are darker leaves, reduced growth and long internodes. Careful nitrate limitation may enhance coloration towards golden or pinkish hues. A fertilisation with CO2 is responsible for a healthy appearance and enhanced growth significantly. C. furcata cannot be cultivated above the waterline, and in the aquarium, it is only rarely known to form floating leaves and flowers. During the summer months it may be cultivated outside, where the formation of flowers is possible.

Aquatic Arts Java Fern - Huge 3 by 5 inch Mat with 30 to 50 Leaves - Live Aquarium Plant

Java Fern is a very popular plant in the hobby due to its impressive size, density, and its minimal care requirements. Java Fern can thrive even in poorly lit aquariums, and in the right conditions it is a very aggressive grower, meaning it provides excellent waste removal from the water column. This plant is excellent for aquariums that house fish, snails, and dwarf shrimp, as it provides biofilm, hiding places, and security for all aquarium inhabitants. This ships as a 5"x3" mat with 30 to 50 leaves! It comes on a mat of substrate that can be discarded or planted under the substrate. The mat can also be broken into smaller pieces to spread the plant to different locations or multiple aquariums. The Java Fern mat in the picture is one that is planted in one of our personal aquariums, and is the same size we send. All of our plants are bright and healthy because they are kept in a water in a plant-dedicated tank rather than plastic packaging, which means your plant will arrive in top condition.
