This selection of Anubias barteri has a very decorative round leaf shape and a size similar to Anubias nana. It's likely identical to Anubias barteri "Coin Leaf". It's as robust and undemanding as A. barteri var. nana. The Round Leaf Anubias is a selection of Anubias barteri with small, round, slightly heart-shaped leaf blades. It is also traded with the labels "Coin Leaf" and "Gold Coin". Anubias barteri 'Round Leaf' has about the size of Anubias barteri var. nana.

Anubias are commonly used in aquariums in pots, planted in gravel or attached to driftwood, rocks or bogwood. In contrast to most plants, Anubias generally prefer subdued lighting and can also produce flowers underwater. In the aquarium they should be placed in shaded areas, otherwise algae will develop on the leaves. Anubias are considered by many aquarists some of the easiest plants to maintain, since their light and nutrient requirements are very low and also because herbivorous fish will not eat it (with a few exceptions). This is why Anubias are some of the few plants which can be used in aquariums with African cichlids and goldfishes. Reproduction in artificial environments can be accomplished by stolon division or from side shoots. The stolon must always be above the substrate in order to survive, otherwise it will rot and the plant dies. The natural growth rate of all species in this genus is slow. Usually, they produce a leaf every 3 weeks, or even slower. And while they were once thought to be among the few plants that do not respond to CO2 addition, hobbyists have seen great results and improved growth with CO2 and high light intensity. The species in this genus are some of the most popular plants in the hobby due to their ease of care, and there are many, many varieties. The dwarf variety, Anubias barteri var. "nana," hails from Cameroon, Africa. It can be found growing in the shallows of forest rivers. Relatively new in the scene, however, is Anubias barteri var. "nana gold." Its beautiful light green to golden leaves indicate a true color variant not dependent on tank conditions. This color will not disappear as the plant ages or is propagated. Its thick, heart-shaped leaves are tough and can last several years. It can thrive in a wide range of temperatures from 68° to 86°F. This gold variety will grow in light ranges of less than a watt per gallon, but it can also thrive in high light. They are pretty hardy and can handle varying conditions quite well. It can handle a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5, making it perfect for most aquariums. Also it is pretty good with light, only requiring low to moderate light to thrive. That being said, it can handle higher levels of light as well, thus making it even more versatile.
