 - A Pictorial History of the B-2A Spirit Stealth Bomber
A Pictorial History of the B-2A Spirit Stealth Bomber

This is a pictorial history of Jack Northrop's dream, the B-2A Spirit, a low-observable, strategic, long-range, heavy bomber with the ability to penetrate sophisticated and dense enemy air-defense shields. It is capable of all-altitude attack missions up to 50,000 feet, with a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles (nm) unrefueled, and over 10,000 nm with one refueling, giving it the ability to fly to any point in the world within hours. Stealth technology has rendered radar systems ineffective by greatly reducing their detection ranges. After ten years of service, the B-2A finally achieved full operational capability in December 2003. An assessment published by the USAF showed that two B-2As armed with precision weaponry could do the job of seventy-five conventional aircraft.

 - Attack on Pearl Harbor: Japan Awakens a Sleeping Giant: Expanded Digital Edition
Attack on Pearl Harbor: Japan Awakens a Sleeping Giant: Expanded Digital Edition

In 2010, Detail & Scale published the original Attack on Pearl Harbor, Japan Awakens a Sleeping Giant at the request of the USS ARIZONA Memorial Foundation, now a part of Pacific Historic Parks.  The goal was to produce a reasonably priced book that covered the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in as much detail as possible while limiting the book to a size that could be sold at less than $20 in the Pearl Harbor Museum bookstore.  That book proved to be very popular and is now out of print.  In researching that book, a significant amount of materials were collected that could not be included because of the limitations of the printing process. Now, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack, Detail & Scale brings you this greatly expanded volume with significant new sections and more information on the attack, including in-depth coverage of the American response.  All of the original chapters have been expanded and entire new chapters have been added.  This digital publication is over four times the size of the original printed version, and stands as the most profusely detailed and illustrated account of the attack ever published, yet it is priced significantly lower than the original book from 2010.The book begins with a “Why Pearl Harbor” chapter that summarizes the...

From Bats to Rangers: A Pictorial History of Electronic Countermeasures Squadron Two (ECMRON-2) Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two (VQ-2) (U.s. Navy Squadron Histories)

This Pictorial History of US Navy's Electronic Countermeasures Squadron Two (ECMRON TWO or VQ-2), later designated Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two (FAIRECONRON TWO or VQ-2) by Angelo Romano and AMHC (AW) John D. Herndon, USN, (Ret.) is the second title of the new U.S. Navy Squadron Histories by Ginter Books. The photo coverage of the history of the Electric Bats, also known as the Rangers, is comprehensive, both in terms of photography and in terms of historical content.Much of the squadron's mission was top secret, as were many of its cold war missions, but the authors were able to utilize official (declassified) documents and first-hand accounts to write this book. For completeness, it is also a history of the US Navy Electronic Intelligence gathering activities going back to WWII, beginning with the creation of the Cast Mike (Counter Measures) Project in 1942 and the deployment of early XARD receivers aboard aircraft like the Consolidated PBY Catalina and PB4Y Liberator. After WWII, the Navy started to use the Privateers as dedicated ELINT platforms and assigned them to two special units operating jointly with the National Security Group. One of these units, designated Port Lyautey Patrol Unit (NPU), was based at Naval Air Activities Port Lyautey, in French Morocco. It wa...

Bell P-39 Airacobra (Orange Series Book 6129)

Designed as an interceptor, when the Bell P-39 Airacobra appeared in 1941 it was acclaimed as one of the most advanced combat planes of the time. Elegantly designed and innovatively engineered (it featured the engine mid-aircraft like a racing car), it experienced mixed operational fortunes but was especially successful in the Soviet Air Force. This book is a full technical history of this important but neglected fighter of World War Two. It presents scale plans of all versions, many detailed photographs of surviving aircraft, full color illustrations of the aircraft in the different liveries of its many users: USAAF, RAF, Soviet, French, Italian and others, in total more than 50 color profiles.

 - Sikorsky HR2S-1/CH-37C Deuce H-37A/CH-37B Mojave Heavy-Lift Helicopter (Naval Fighters)
Sikorsky HR2S-1/CH-37C Deuce H-37A/CH-37B Mojave Heavy-Lift Helicopter (Naval Fighters)

The USMC Deuce was originally designed as a heavy-lift assault helicopter capable of delivering 36 combat troops or equipment (up to two Jeeps or field artillery) from ship to shore. It was quickly adapted by the Army which purchased almost twice as many as the Marines. During its early testing it set both speed and weight lifting records for helicopters. Once in service, it was also used to recover small aircraft and other helicopters by both the Army and Marines in Vietnam. Many of its features, including its 72 foot main rotor blades, were used as the successful basis of its replacement, the CH-53, which is still in use today.

MiniArt 35089 US 101st Airborne Division - Normandy 1944, WWII Military Miniatures 1:35 Scale Model Kit The 101st American Airborne Division officially opened on August 16, 1942 and made its debut at the base of Camp Claiborne, in the State of Louisiana. Its first Major was Major General William C. Lee. The 101st is initially formed of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR), the 327th and 401st Glider Infantry Regiments (GIR), the 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion (377th PFAB), the 321st and 907th Glider Field Artillery battalions (GFAB). The 326th Airborne Engineer Battalion reinforces the unit, as well as the 101st Signal Company, the 326th Medical Company and the 426th Quartermaster Company. On the night of June 5-6, 1944, the paratroopers of the 101st jump on Normandy. They must seize a variety of objectives, such as bridges, strategic junctions and villages, in order to secure, along with the 82nd Airborne Division, the western allied invasion flank as part of Operation Overlord. Above the Cotentin, the C-47 aircraft are targets of the German Flak and many aircraft break training. The precision of the parachutes is very affected and most of the American soldiers do not land in the right place. Some paras are more than 20 kilometers away from their goal. About Mi...
